Residential Rolling Blackouts Approved

Mayor Gondola’s administration approved legislation for scheduled rolling residential blackouts beginning in the Summer of 2024. Stacked on top of the pending meat ban, the scheduled blackouts are another salvo from this administration in its fight against climate change.

The administration will partner with Grover Electric, the sole electricity provider in Cinniapolis, to schedule these blackouts during times of minimum electricity usage. President of Grover Electric and Mayor Gondola’s sister-in-law, Jade Gondola said, “The last thing we want is to inconvenience our customers. This is a chance to partner with a forward-thinking government to do our part in stabilizing the strength of severe super storms in our region.”

Cinniapolitans disagree, “Pollution might be increased by my commuter gasoline car and my moderate usage of electricity, it might be, according to government-funded studies, which are inconclusive. When is the government going to commission a study on billionaire (expletive) that launch and ride space tourism rockets, leaving a methane cloud the size of Texas over our city? Perhaps we should ban rocket-fueled space vehicles used strictly for vanity, instead of banning fuel that helps the workers of this city earn a living,” said Gerard Gonzalez, recent high school graduate turned community activist, referencing the increasing frequency of space tourism trips at Velo Spaceport.

Notably absent from the designated properties subject to scheduled blackouts are business and educational campuses, health care facilities, government buildings, and the entire Reunion neighborhood – where the domiciles are most frequently occupied by the upper crust of Cinniapolis.

Time will tell how this measure will be deployed and the volume of inevitable backlash it generates. Since Mayor Gondola’s re-election, his administration has passed two major measures that will affect Cinniapolitan diets and, now, their home life. The Mayor promised accelerated changes for Cinniapolis. As each day passes, he continues to put the pedal to the metal, in an effort to mold Cinniapolis in his vision.
