An organized group of vandals damaged several properties around Cinniapolis last night, most notably the properties of 3 mayoral candidates for the upcoming special election. CSD sources confirmed to the Chorus that windows were smashed at all 3 properties, while minimal damages were found on the interiors of each location.
According to city surveillance footage, Penney’s Fish Market was targeted first and incurred heavy damages. All the windows were broken and the shelves were ransacked. Owner Waldo Penney said, “It’s a shame. It’s depressing. But, it’s also why I’m in this race. I don’t believe in petty crime. Criminals are criminals, no matter the size or impact of their actions. When I’m elected Mayor, the city will get back to enforcing the laws of the land.”
The vandals also hit two Beaned Café locations, again smashing out the windows. The bandits made off with the cash registers from each location too. Oliver Roseman, owner and mayoral candidate, brushed off the vandalism and thefts, “Well, I’m glad nobody was hurt. New windows can be put up, the money can be replaced. Those guys will never get in the cash registers because of the built-in security functions, so maybe they can return them, I don’t know. We’ll be back to serving Cinniapolis in no time,” he said.
The last mayoral candidate to feel the wrath of these vandals was Arn Murphy, who had a strong conviction these were not random acts. “These are the thugs bought and paid for by the Gondola family. I find it very curious that Mayor Gondola and his City Manager (Justine Wellington) woke up today to no damages or destruction to their lives. They’re using their current influence to intimidate better, more qualified candidates,” Mr. Murphy said. Several Murphy Waste Management trucks were set on fire. Those that weren’t set ablaze had their tires slashed. But, Mr. Murphy confirmed there would be no interruptions to trash pickup services.
Other notable locations vandalized included Amerovich Cinema in Walesburg, CNPS-TV headquarters in Centralis, and a Solstice Rail train station in Reunion. The vandals broke windows at these sites but didn’t attempt to steal anything.
The Chorus reached out to Ms. Wellington and Mayor Gondola for comment. They issued a joint statement condemning last night’s violence, “We are issuing this joint statement not as Mayoral candidates, but as a united City Council. Last night’s events resulting in property destruction and theft have no place in Cinniapolis. The victims have our full support and we will work closely with CSD and HSL to bring these vandals to justice.”
