Winter 2023 Forecast

After surviving an early snow in Autumn, Cinniapolitans may not see that much snow for the entire Winter. October saw a storm that blanketed Cinniapolis with over a foot of snow. Projections for this Winter season all seem to agree that temperatures will be colder than normal but precipitation will be light with no major snow events in the long range forecast. Nonetheless, the CNPS-TV meteorology team advises everyone to update and test their snow removal equipment, as they should every year.

CNPS-TV lead meteorologist, Fran Dimple, points out several days in late January where the snowfall may be light but has the potential to accumulate up to several inches after several days of snow. “We don’t expect one big storm, like October, but several micro bursts of snow. These micro bursts can drop 2-4″ in an hour and then move out of the area. Early forecasts show the potential for these bursts towards late January and early February. But only a few models are forecasting that trend. The majority of models are showing light precipitation activity for most of this Winter,” said Ms. Dimple.

All in all there doesn’t appear to be a lot of severe conditions for the Winter of 2023. However, weather is fickle this time of year, especially for those folks in the lake effect snow zone near Lake Sinnissippi. Keep your snow boots near but don’t expect them to get much use this season. As always, stay tuned in to CNPS-TV and the Chorus for your up to date forecasts and severe weather alerts.
