Mid-Term Winter 2025 Forecast

As the calendar inches toward March and winter’s gusts continue to rattle downtown windows, local forecasters are painting a finish to winter 2025 that’s equal parts classic Winter cold and Spring thaw.

The CNPS-TV Meteorology team released its re-projected winter outlook this week, and forecasters describe it as “weeks of contrasts” — with bursts of deep freeze potential interspersed with milder temperatures teasing residents with springlike warmth before plunging back below freezing.

“We’re projecting above-average snowfall overall, with peak events likely in late February and mid-March,” said Fran Dimple, Cinniapolis‘ top voice on weather patterns. “Temperature averages will trend slightly below normal, but we aren’t locked into a single pattern. Expect alternating cold snaps, then brief thaws.”

December presented Cinniapolitans with a relatively mild start, with daytime highs frequently near or just above freezing but nights dipping sharply. Snow events were intermittent but still produced slick commutes. Now halfway through winter, the season continues delivering persistent cold, abundant snow, and periodic lake-effect bursts burdening road crews and commuters.

The balance of the season continues with increasing variability. Warm fronts may sag northward periodically, offering brief respites before transitioning back to arctic air. Don’t put the skis or snow shovels away as the calendar flips. CNPS-TV is tracking long-range conditions and advises the wintry weather pattern looks to persist through April this year.

As always with Cinniapolis weather, forecasts are a blend of scientific modeling and lived experience. If winter unfolds as predicted, it will give the city plenty to talk about — from ice and snow totals to the warmth of community fire pits and family cheer.
