Dolly is here to advise the Cinniapolis community and answer any questions with grace and honesty. Here is today’s question:
Q: Dear Dolly, I have reached out to you before and put into action your great advice. Now, I continue my fight from within to combat tyranny at all levels of our government. It is here I will share the secrets of leadership and the decisions they make affecting all Cinniapolitans. You heard it here first, the decision to enact planned power outages over the past two summers was in the interest of declining property values, not to help the environment. The city was facing an electric bill they could no longer afford due to being over-leveraged an unable to borrow against potentially vacant properties. The council floated the idea of shutting off the power as a way to save money on the city’s electricity operations while also getting office campuses re-populated with its workers. It was a master plan and has worked seamlessly. Remember, don’t shoot the messenger!
Sincerely, Fly on the Wall
A: Dear Fly on the Wall, thank you for sharing this info. What looks like a conspiracy has actually turned into a net positive for Cinniapolitans. While the communicated intent was misleading, the planned power outages are contributing to the slowing of climate change. They are also helping the electricity suppliers manage operations and costs. The “forced” return to offices in the region was met with disdain at first, but Cinniapolitans have settled back into the old routine and report the forced power outages have kept some more of their hard earned money in the pockets too. The only mistake here seems to be the City Council lacking trust in the public’s ability to digest bad news and partner in a solution. Remember when governments used to do that? Me neither!! Until you buzz by next time, Fly on the Wall.
Sincerely, Dolly
