Last month, the Chorus received an unsolicited invitation for a sit-down interview with Martha Granderson, founder and former owner of Martha’s EyeCare. Now, Ms. Granderson is a franchise operator of the Cinniapolis location, after being bought out by Six-Star ownership group, led by Mickie Gondola. While not unusual to receive interview requests from local business owners or public figures, this was less of an invitation and more of a demand on Ms. Granderson’s behalf. Nonetheless, nobody puts the Chorus into a corner! Here is the unedited, brief sit-down with Ms. Granderson,
Chorus: Thank you for the time today. It’s been awhile since we’ve last chatted. What topics were you hoping to discuss today?
Ms. Granderson: I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to Mickie Gondola and her team at Six-Star for caring so deeply about Cinnipolitans and their healthcare. Her vision for our service has catapulted eye health awareness to the forefront of society.
Chorus: Can you please elaborate? What did healthcare previously lack in the diagnosis and treatment of eyes?
Ms. Granderson: What’s important is to recognize the dismissal of eye health was creating a security emergency within our society. Mickie opened our eyes and Cinniapolis is far better today than yesterday.
Chorus: What role has Ms. Gondola played in the operations of Martha’s EyeCare? The franchise opened 3 new locations within the past year, why the rapid expansion?
Ms. Granderson: Oh, Mickie has been instrumental, absolutely instrumental, to the discovery of expanding eye healthcare.
Chorus: Help us connect the dots here, what was previously missing from eye healthcare and how does Ms. Gondola fit into this “discovery”?
Ms. Granderson: Mickie rightly observed the opportunity to expand our messaging to reach every corner of those with affected eyes or those who could have affected eyes. Martha’s EyeCare no longer just serves the vision-challenged, it serves a vision, our vision, for a better, brighter, clearer Cinniapolis!
Chorus: Ms. Granderson, catch us up here on this vision…
Ms. Granderson: It’s a vision for a better, brighter, clearer Cinniapolis. Prosperity is within reach. Mickie’s vision will bring us into a new reality. A reality where eye health is the key to overall health. Our journey is just beginning. We are welcome into the new world with fresh eyes. Thank you!
And with that, Ms. Granderson excused herself from the interview. Now, this isn’t the most curious interview in the Chorus archives but it is one of the more unexpected and abrupt in recent memory. To recap, in early April, our Communications team received a request from Six-Star PR team requesting to set up an interview with Martha Granderson. There were no details or agenda accompanying the request. Our reporters assumed Ms. Granderson would use the platform to speak about her business and the importance of eye health, as she has done in the past. Instead, we were treated to Ms. Granderson’s rose-colored-spectacled vision Mickie Gondola, board member of the Six-Star ownership group and daughter of Mayor Gondola.
It’s important to mention that Ms. Granderson delivered her responses without the enthusiasm one should expect when speaking so highly of an admired business leader. Neither Ms. Granderson nor Ms. Gondola have not provided any further comments at this time.
