Brucie Murphy announced this morning he will be attending Walesburg High School for his final year of high school,
“Family and Friends, it is with much emotion I announce today my transfer to Walesburg High School is official. I’m sad to be leaving Cinni Prep after 3 wonderful years. To my coaches and teachers, thank you so much for all the lessons and leadership over the past few years. I’m better off for our time together. To my fellow students, we are destined for great things. I look forward to keeping in touch and can’t wait to see what’s next in our journey! To my new classmates at Walesburg, I can’t wait to meet you! Thank you for the welcome letters and kindness you’ve shown towards my family and me welcoming us to Walesburg. Let’s buckle up, we’ve got work to do! For the last time as a Cinni Prep Owl, it’s been a hoot! Brucie Murphy”
Mr. Murphy’s transfer was expected to transfer after the Murphy family purchased the old Tree Tires lot for new residential construction. The immediate impact will leave Cinni Prep searching for a quarterback this upcoming season. Coach Marmalade broached the subject delicately when asked last week, “Well, as of today Brucie is our QB1 but there are different skill sets that will compete for QB2 and QB3. We’ll assess that position when camp opens in June and we have a better idea of the roster,” he said.
Nonetheless, Walesburg High football fans are rejoicing over this morning’s announcement. Dozens of fans gathered at the 50-yard line of Walesburg High’s football field and chanted “Brucie! Brucie!” after the post went up. They tried to take down the goalposts but were ushered off the field by campus security.
Walesburg High has traditionally been the doormat of the conference. But, now with a 5-star, 5-tool player, this team will be expected to compete for a playoff birth.
