Last night, Walesburg Mayor Winston lifted the meat ban that has been effective in Cinniapolis since Sept 2023. “Now that we forge our own path, we will eat our own foods too. The essential nutrients from meat are unmatched in the genetically modified products available today. To our meat suppliers, let me be the first to say, welcome back! Walesburg is open for business and we’ve got a healthy appetite!,” said Mayor Winston.
The news was well received among the locals. Yard signs went up over night thanking Mayor Winston and the new Walesburg administration for “reinstating meat” , “resurrecting tasty loins of pork”, “choosing health over hysteria”, among dozens of others championing this legislative victory. There was no known resistance within her inner circle either, according to sources.
With Mayor Winston taking on outspoken critics of Cinniapolis as consultants from the Five Families Farms and Murphy business organizations, residents can expect more reversals of unpopular, alleged draconian policies from the Cinniapolis government to be eliminated. After all, the vote to secede was a direct rebuke of Cinniapolis, as a community. When reached for comment, Cinniapolis Mayor Gondola offered praise and advice to the newest Mayor in the region, “Mayor Winston is fulfilling her campaign promises, which can be tough to do if you are surrounded by peers that challenge ideas and results. Everything is always rosy at the start of a new term because there are no results. The merit of philosophies and execution of such promises become questioned when results inevitably do not match up with all promises,” he said.
The impact to the economies of Walesburg and Cinniapolis is yet to be determined, but it should result in a short-term windfall for Walesburg if exiled meat producers choose to return to a market that once served them very well. Mayor Winston also confirmed there will be incentives to attract meat suppliers and restaurants into the community. Those details are still under consideration but expect to be finalized over the next several days.
