Mayor of Walesburg Elected

Walesburgians elected Ms. Annabelle Winston as their first Mayor to form the first ever government of Walesburg. Ms. Winston secured 78% of the vote holding off challenger Gerard Gonzalez. “Today is a proud day for Walesburg. We are an independent entity and no longer oppressed by the corporate and political elites from the northeast,” said Ms. Winston, referring to Cinniapolis. “My team is already working on forming our government. A government that is designed by the working class, for the working class. I promise to deliver a community that elicits pride from all corners. We’re going to put in the hard work to get the results we deserve.”

Ms. Winston delivered many lines drawing applause from the audience. Notable attendees included Chess Murphy beside the Amerovich, Morris, Dragg, Irvin, and Huron patriarchs of Five Families Farms. “Mr. Murphy, Chess, without your unwavering support and resources, this victory would not have been possible. I’m forever in debt to your family and look forward to a partnership dedicated to uplifting Walesburgians. To the Five Families, thank you for your use of property throughout the campaign and insight navigating the hundreds, if not thousands, of administrative tasks. Your business acumen and social brilliance led our street team to the most successful guerilla campaigning democracy has ever witnessed. Your generosity is a model for us all,” said Ms. Winston. Mr. Murphy and the heads of the Five Families Farms, along with their families and businesses, expect to play large roles and have major influence in forming Ms. Winston’s government.

Walesburg has often been referred to as the squeaky wheel of Cinniapolis, accused of siphoning government funds to line the pockets of their leadership instead of investing in the region. Ms. Winston addressed those allegations succinctly, “We will be meeting with the current Walesburg leadership to accept their resignations immediately. They are no longer authorized to make decisions on behalf of Walesburg.”

Stay tuned to the Chorus for the latest developments on the Walesburg secession as Ms. Winston announces legislation and appoints her government.
