The Cinniapolis City Council has announced the May Town Hall will be postponed from May 9th to May 29th. City Manager, Buck Gondola, advised that the Government will need more time to engage the public in thoughtful discussions surrounding flash point topics such as the Summer planned power outages, the status of CFPS negotiations, and the attempted secession of Walesburg.
Cinniapolitans in every corner of Cinniapolis are affected by one, if not all, of these issues. When reached for comment City Manager Gondola said, “The Government fully grasps the significance of this moment. We’re asking for a bit more time to get it right. We’ve heard the few concerns from folks around town. We’ve also heard several more endorsements of our performance, which have far outnumbered the Negative Nancy’s that want to dominate this discourse. Nonetheless, the Council, in coordination with our great Mayor, will take a couple more weeks to cross the T’s and dot the I’s in the best interest of our city.”
However, the public assumes this is just another example of an elitist Government insulating themselves versus potential backlash. Community Organizer and Activist, Gerard Gonzalez said, “This is an administration that is only concerned about themselves and their bank accounts. This postponement is likely because the City Council hasn’t lined enough pockets of the business elites to get their buy-in for the Government’s radical, inhumane agenda. By granting themselves more time to cover up their corruption, they have also given Cinniapolitans more time to organize and push back against their tyranny.”
However, there are no indications that the Government will budge from their plans as a result of public backlash. After all, this is a Mayor who has grown accustomed to resistance. He survived a Special Election. He greets protesters warmly. The public’s disdain doesn’t seem to bother him nor his brother, “Our vision for the survival of Cinniapolis doesn’t have to be popular. We are taking necessary measures to ensure the progress of our city because Cinniapolis will be standing far longer than any of us alive today,” said Buck Gondola.
This administration claims it continues to operate in the best interests of Cinniapolis. It also continues to operate without the interests of Cinniapolitans in mind. This is clear from recent past draconian measures that have yielded conflict, concern, and calamity. The city will endure this turbulent period. But, it will take a humane approach from a seemingly detached Government to regain an acceptable level of trust from Cinniapolitans.
