Cinniapolis Prep Celebrates 100 years

In 1924, community members established Cinniapolis Prep High School. A growing community preferred to continue educating their youth rather than plopping them into the workforce. One hundred years later, Cinni Prep is a premiere high school institution in the nation.

The first day of operation, the students and faculty were tasked with choosing their mascot. Still to this day, Cinniapolitans are blessed with endless amounts of catfish trolling the banks of Lake Sinnissippi. One hundred years ago, it was common for folks to rise with the sun with hopes of catching a week’s worth of meals. It was also common for folks to set their sights on catching catfish under a Cinni sunset. With so many lives dependent on the catfish, it was selected as the Cinni Prep mascot.

The initial graduating class was 23 students strong. The graduating class of 2024 includes 337 students, one of the largest classes ever. To mark this occasion, both students and faculty were treated to a catfish fry yesterday afternoon. “It’s awesome to get together and share a meal with our leaders. I’ve never seen so much catfish in my life,” said Freshman Brucie Murphy. “The vibe between students and staff is at an all-time high. I’m so proud to be a Cinni Prep Catfish, ” he said.

Many esteemed graduates spoke at the catfish fry. Perhaps, none more esteemed than Mayor Gondola, class of 1971. “Cinniapolis Prep taught me to believe in my own intelligence. We are all intelligent. But, the self-belief given to me by my teachers propels me through each and every day making tough decisions to continue our growth and progression as a world-leading community. Chase your dreams. Live your dreams. Never let your inner dialogue demean or detract from your energy, passion, and intelligence. Allow the journey of Cinni Prep to inspire you,” said Mr. Gondola.

After 100 years, Cinni Prep boasts a top-5 GPA among high schools nationwide. At the time of inception, there were more detractors than supporters for a high school. The community debated whether to realize short-term gains in the industrial sector with a competitively large workforce or stagnate the workforce by furthering the education of their children. The choice of education revitalized ideas and attitudes in Cinniapolis. Cinni Prep transformed Cinniapolis from a dusty, industrial hub into a burgeoning, bustling modern Americana city leading the world into the future. Cheers Cinni Prep, here’s to 100 more years!
