Mayor Appoints New Police Chief

Mayor Gondola is keeping police business in the family this time. Last night, the Mayor’s office released a statement confirming the appointment of Roxie Gondola as the new Police Chief of the recently reinstated Cinniapolis Police Department (CPD). Ms. Gondola is the daughter of Mayor Gondola. The press release confirmed the City Council unanimously approved Ms. Gondola. In the past, a high-profile appointment such as this has undergone multiple rounds of questioning from the Council broadcast to the public. However, this appointment was conducted behind closed doors.

The appointment reeks of nepotism considering Ms. Gondola was suspended multiple times during her tenure as a Captain which led to the temporary disbandment of the CPD in 2021. However, two years later the CPD has been reinstated, as if the police brutality that haunted Cinniapolis for decades never occurred. This notion is re-emphasized by appointing a documented alleged abuser of authority to the highest ranking police officer in the city.

Ms. Gondola infamously settled with her accusers (8 total) out of court. At the time of the cases, Ms. Gondola said, “I’m choosing to settle these cases not as an admission of guilt but because I don’t think it’s fair to smear the reputation of the CPD based on heinous allegations from the lowest rungs of society that have a vendetta against my family. I’ll reluctantly dip into my savings to uplift these conspiracy-addled citizens attacking the character of those that defend this city.” Ms. Gondola played the martyr so well, it vaulted her back into law enforcement.

After the CPD was broken up in 2021, Ms. Gondola maintained a low profile after several tumultuous years as a Captain. During the past 2 years, she spent time as an independent law enforcement consultant. The majority of her consultant work was with the Holy Sheriff Legion (HSL).

Mayor Gondola declined to comment on the story. However, Ms. Gondola said, “I’m humbled by this opportunity. I look forward to establishing a synergy with the CSD and HSL to fight the rising tide of crime in Cinniapolis. No matter where you reside, CPD is back to protect and serve all Cinniapolitans. I can’t wait to get to work.”
