The Amerovich Organization, the leading internet provider in Cinniapolis, announced plans this morning to unveil new subscription plans for their internet service. The days of one price for an all encompassing internet service appear to be numbered.
Ivan Amerovich spoke to the assembled media this morning after the news was announced, “We have listened to the feedback of our consumers. The running theme is that our service is too expensive. As a result, we have switched our services and now offer different options for consumers of all different levels of wealth.” Mr. Amerovich said previous internet packages only varied in price due to the speed. But, now, the price will be inclusive (or not) of the different services that used to make up the entire internet service charge.
Consumers were predictably rankled by this news with #ivantheterrible trending on CNPS Stream. “This man has too much power,” one user wrote. While another commented, “Deleting search history will be a paid service, omg, our privacy is no longer a right you guys.”
While a majority of the commentary on CNPS Stream was negative, a user found solace in the new lower price points, “For $9 a month, the world can see my search history, idc. Now, that I have extra money, I’ll spend less time on the web anyways.”
Mr. Amerovich expressed cautionary optimism despite the early public backlash. “Any time there is major change, a segment of the population will be unhappy. But, this change opens up the internet to consumers from all backgrounds. We are proud of this change to increase accessibility to grow the online community.”
Subscription plans were leaked to the media but Mr. Amerovich denied those are the final plans. However, he did confirm the below features would now be behind a subscription paywall:
Deleting search history
Saving passwords
Auto-filling forms
Internet browsing (entry plans are for email use only)
Access to non-designated News websites
User License
In closing, Mr. Amerovich remained optimistic about the new plans, “We are prepared for and expected some backlash. But, in the long run, this will be a better, more accessible service for Cinniapolis. We are very proud of this plan because we expect it will force our competitive partners to adjust their business models as well, providing multiple affordable options for the consumer.”
