Candidates are making their last-minute pitches for Cinniapolitans votes, while one candidate continues to fight for his life after suffering severe injuries during a botched burglary. Citizens took to the polls starting at 7:00 AM and voting will continue through 8:00 PM tonight. Depending on early polling results, the race may be called for a winner tonight. Although, with exit-polls forecasting a tight 3-way race, it’s more likely the winner will be named in the days to come after all the votes are counted.
The incumbent, Mayor Gondola, started his day casting his vote at Cinniapolis State. “Cinni State is the hub of future innovation and home to the future leaders of Cinniapolis. I could think of no better place to get out and vote than Cinni State.”
City Manager Justine Wellington, in a show of solidarity, also cast her vote at Cinni State. “The Mayor and I thought we’d vote early and then get back to serving the people of Cinniapolis. It’s been a long, quick campaign. But, our team is proud of our effort and we certainly hope it results in our victory.”
Fringe candidate Waldo Penney cast his vote at the Cinniapolis Elementary voting site. “It’s my great honor to vote at Cinni Elementary. It’s where I was educated. It’s where my kids were educated. I’m emotional because I never imagined that I could ascend to a political office and I may be hours away from my life changing forever.”
Perhaps the most disappointing candidate, Arn Murphy, had yet to cast his vote. “I’ll be voting later this evening. My first priority is my day job.”
Questions surround the candidacy of Mr. Roseman. As of last night’s final polling, Mayor Gondola held a narrow lead over Mr. Roseman and Ms. Wellington. As of this morning, a spokesperson for Mr. Roseman confirmed he would accept the nomination, should he win the election.
