Mayoral Candidate Profile: Waldo Penney

Waldo Penney is a first time Mayoral candidate. Although, he unsuccessfully ran for City Council in 2004 and 2012. Mr. Penney is the owner of Penney’s Fish Market. While unsuccessful on the ballot, Mr. Penney is the premiere seafood provider for Cinniapolis and top-rated guest host on 510 AM radio. His opinions are controversial to some, but accepted as fact by others.

Mr. Penney is not afraid to ignite the fires of controversy with coded, emotional language. He has whipped up fervor in his followers on many different occasions, most notably at the Freedom Forever Rally. To this day, he claims he did nothing wrong to incite violence on that infamous night. “It was a peaceful gathering. Rowdy, yes. Boisterous, yes. But, peaceful. That is, until those Private Citizens thugs showed up with destruction on their minds and hate in their hearts,” said Mr. Penney. Mr. Penney is an expert at emotionally connecting to his audience and the events of that night may have kick-started this special election.

Mayor Gondola is a frequent target of Mr. Penney’s on-air rants about rising crime and unemployment. “I can’t wait to get the boyking (Mayor Gondola) in a debate. The man has an answer for everything. But, I’ve got the right answer for Cinniapolitans. A vote for me is a vote for common sense, lawful governing,” he said.

The special election voting takes place on February 28th. Due to the unprecedented circumstances, all votes must be submitted in person at each citizen’s local voting facility. There will be no vote-by-mail or early voting options.
