Mayoral Candidate Profile: Arn Murphy

Arnold “Arn” Murphy is a first time Mayoral candidate. He has never run for an elected office prior to the February 2023 special election. Although, he was his brother’s Campaign Manager for the 2016 Mayoral election. Mr. Murphy is the current CEO of Murphy Waste Management. Appointed to the position in 2018, he has overseen the transition to an all-electric fleet of garbage trucks while gradually phasing out the older diesel powered trucks.

Mr. Murphy’s experience as the CEO of a large business that employs people of many different backgrounds and levels of education are certainly noteworthy. A 2022 internal survey of Murphy Waste Management employees gave Mr. Murphy a 74% approval rating as CEO, the highest approval rating in the company’s history. He prides himself on being a “worker’s CEO”, much like pro sports has “player’s managers”. Mr. Murphy is a champion of work-life balance and has been known to get behind the wheel and drive a weekend route allowing his drivers an extra day with their family and friends from time to time.

While the Murphys and Gondolas have had their public spats over the years, Mr. Murphy said he will not make the election about their two families, “This election’s focus is on restoring Cinniapolis to its former glory. In the past decade, this city has fallen into the hands of incapable leadership content to sit on the sidelines while criminals have a free-for-all on our streets. We’re going to get back to enforcing the laws that made Cinniapolis a thriving hub of society.”

The special election voting takes place on February 28th. Due to the unprecedented circumstances, all votes must be submitted in person at each citizen’s local voting facility. There will be no vote-by-mail or early voting options.
