After Mayor Gondola’s elongated absence from the public eye, folks around town took notice of his new glasses. While most chalked up the new look to an aging set of eyes needing assistance, a segment of Cinniapolis activists started asking questions.
First, they started with Martha’s EyeCare. The owner, Dr. Martha Granderson, had some fun with public, neither confirming nor denying that she treated the Mayor. However, she began to receive anonymous threats to her business and herself. Back in early December, she publicly denied treating Mayor Gondola. “While I certainly appreciated the new patients and uptick in business, it’s simply not true. Unfortunately, since my public admission, the threats have only become louder and more frequent. I regret my part in encouraging those that believe I acted in bad faith,” she said.
While the activists kept their focus on Martha’s EyeCare, they found a new partners in the Private Citizens activist collective. Private Citizens began uploading public surveillance videos to CNPS Stream, alleging Dr. Miles Sevenson was personally treating Mayor Gondola. The footage obtained revealed Dr. Sevenson and an unidentified man entering and exiting Washington Labs on 5 separate occasions between September 17th and October 22nd. While there were also several other instances of Dr. Sevenson entering and exiting the lab with unidentified individuals, the man in these uploaded videos appeared to have the same gait as Mayor Gondola. The time of the videos also piqued the public’s interest. On each occasion, the two gentlemen entered lab facilities at 11:30 PM and exited at 3:00 AM. The public alleged the Mayor was attempting to conceal his identity and had to sneak away from his security detail. Dr. Sevenson, at the time of these allegations in November, said, “We perform many different disciplines of research at all times of the day. I’m not at liberty to share these details until the study is complete.” Dr. Sevenson declined to comment for this story.
Well, that’s the end of the story, right? There is no evidence the Mayor was treated at the exclusive eye care center of Cinniapolis. It cannot be proved that the man in question with Dr. Sevenson is Mayor Gondola. A lot of effort for no results. Not so fast, according to Private Citizens. There is one last piece of the puzzle connecting Mayor Gondola’s glasses to Dr. Sevenson.
At last year’s Cinniapolis Technology Expo, Dr. Sevenson demonstrated new smart glasses. The bifocals were synced with a quantum computer and claimed any wearer is progressing the world forward at an accelerated pace because these glasses eliminate the obstacle of history repeating itself. Private Citizens followed up their surveillance video dumps with a slickly edited and professional video alleging Mayor Gondola is now wearing these smart glasses and using them to answer media inquiries and govern. The video identifies a handful of the Mayor’s public appearances since early November, where his responses are delayed during conversations with his city council and the media. The video also focuses on his eye movements, alleging he is reading his responses off the lenses.
After interacting with Mayor Gondola over the years, the Chorus can confirm he typically pauses after a question to give his most thoughtful answer. However, his eyes darting back and forth is very unusual. Our staff combed through old footage of the Mayor and found no instances of his eyes moving in such a manner. Although, people pick up new ticks and quirks throughout their life. It’s also possible the Mayor could be suffering from Nystagmus, a condition that causes uncontrollable, involuntary eye movements. If true, this would explain his public absence regarding his “medical appointments”, along with wearing new glasses because having clearer vision would help calm his rapid eye movements.
We reached out to the Mayor for a comment. He replied, “I wish to remain focused on the upcoming election and the needs of Cinniapolitans. I am healthy, both physically and mentally. I have never felt better and I am energized by the passion the community is bringing to this election.”
