CNPS-TV Weather Alert: Up to 24″ of Snow Expected

A major snowstorm event is headed directly for Cinniapolis this weekend. The updated forecast shows the snow starting Friday around sunrise and continuing through sundown Saturday evening. The heaviest snowfall is expected Friday night into Saturday morning. CNPS-TV has issued a blizzard advisory starting Friday at 3:00 PM lasting until 11:00 AM on Saturday. Winds are expected to exceed 50 miles per hour during some points of the storm.

CNPS-TV lead meteorologist, Fran Dimple, said this morning, “Cinniapolitans are in for a doozy of a weekend. We haven’t seen this type of arctic activity in the month of October in any of our lifetimes. Make sure you have a readiness plan. Try to stay off the roads, allowing for our city’s plows to keep the streets clean for emergency vehicles. It’s a good day to work remote, if you have the option. I’ve heard schools will have a remote learning day tomorrow, which is good news. Get what you need today, if you haven’t already, because it’ll likely be a few days before all roads are passable again.”

Another motivator to get any shopping done today is Thick Pickins surge pricing will be in effect this weekend. General Manager Shaquille Aston confirmed to the Chorus in an email, “We will be implementing our surge prices, effective at 12:00 PM Friday through 12:00 PM Monday. During this time, certain items and services will be subject to a surge price. We do this as encouragement to our shoppers to stay safe and stay home. We will still be here for them when the snow melts, with our everyday low prices. Unfortunately, the surge pricing is also a healthy deterrent for any shoppers looking to turn a severe event into a payday by hoarding and re-selling essential products. As a reminder, should the conditions allow, surge pricing will end sooner than currently scheduled.”

Stay tuned to the Chorus, CNPS-TV and 510 AM programming for major updates on the incoming snowstorm.
