“Private Citizens” Expose Gondola Alleged Climate Hypocrisy

Last night, the activist group calling themselves Private Citizens uploaded a short video to CNPS Stream that has garnered hundreds of thousands of views overnight into this morning. The video titled “Warning: Hypocrite!!!” was edited showing clips from previous Mayor Gondola appearances explaining the various points of his proposed climate agenda. Those quotes are juxtaposed with amateur footage from the Private Citizens themselves, in what looks like footage taken after the break-in at the Murphy Waste Management trash processing facility.

There are four different parts to the video. Each section addresses a proposed Mayor Gondola policy followed by alleged hypocritical evidence the group claims to have researched “in the field”. We have broken the information down below and independently verified the papers shown in the activist’s footage as legitimate.

RECYCLING
The first point made revolved around the Mayor’s push for Cinniapolis to become a worldwide leader in recycling trash. He famously gave an impassioned speech to an indifferent group of Cinni Elementary 8th graders in 2018 about the importance of recycling. “It is life or death for this planet. We can’t continue to add waste to the large tumors of garbage that inhabit our oceans, lakes and rivers. Mother Earth is dying but we, you, can save her. Give your disposables life again, resurrect them from the dead. Reuse, Recycle, Resurrect,” he said to mostly glazed over teenagers. This was contrasted by footage from the Private Citizens. A member wearing black shoes, black jeans, a black hoodie, and a black ski mask pulled items from a black trash bag. The person pulled out Mayor Gondola’s garbage bill showing no charges for recycling services. A modified computerized voice from off-camera narrates the footage, “Oh, look at that. It seems Mr. Mayor likes to tell others to save the planet but can’t be bothered to put in the work himself. You would think Mr. Elite Holier-Than-Thou would be resurrecting his trash if he loves the planet so much.”

RED MEAT
The second portion of the video calls out Mayor Gondola’s rumored regulations regarding the red meat industry and its purported effects on the environment. Recently, the Mayor has suggested heavily regulating and the outright banning of red meats to reduce cattle emissions. He gave this statement during his 2021 Vegan Symposium speech, “We have a moral responsibility to our very distant ancestors to rescue Earth and make it healthy again. Right now, our planet is dying from man-made products and man-made practices. It’s time for man-made solutions and it starts with changing our diets. We have the data to show cattle emissions are at an all-time high. Those emissions are destroying our atmosphere, destroying our communities, and slowly killing humanity. Let’s be better, let’s end our dependence on red meat. A therapy cow is a lot more useful than a factory cow,” he said. The video then shifts back to footage of the activists showing us Fowler Chophouse receipts, supposedly from Mayor Gondola. The off-camera voice informs us, “These are the receipts of Mr. Anti-Beef himself. Let’s see, Porterhouse Steak, New York Strip Steak, Skirt Steak. And that was just one Saturday night. Here’s another, Steak Tacos, Steak Tar Tar, Wagyu Burger. It seems Mayor Gondola and his cronies enjoy their cuts of beef. Tsk-tsk, Mayor.”

GASOLINE AUTOMOBILES
Another frequent talking point from Mayor Gondola’s administration has been the inevitable conversion from gasoline automobiles to electric automobiles. On this point, the Mayor has tried to take action. He proposed in his August State of the City address a ban on personal gasoline autos to take effect in one year. However, there has been no official measure passed. The footage then shifts back to the Private Citizens and their garbage bags of evidence, “Here is a discarded itinerary from the Mayor’s private jet travels. Last time I checked, jets were fueled by gasoline. And, a private jet is a personal automobile. Will the Mayor give up his personal aircraft, probably not. Otherwise, how will he go to the Islands, or his coastal homes for a long weekend? The missing Mayor seems to be having his longest weekend ever at the moment.”

ENERGY CONSUMPTION
The final point made in the video concerns energy usage amongst Cinniapolitans. Mayor Gondola has suggested multiple times in the past year that Cinniapolis would benefit from controlled, rolling blackouts to conserve energy, “We have to find an efficient way to relieve the stress on the electric grid. One way is rolling power outages. Yes, it’s inconvenient to not have power but it will be more of an inconvenience to not have a planet,” he said. The video shifts back to the activist perspective sorting through garbage bags again. The person pulls out an electric bill, “This is an electric bill for one Mayor Preston Gondola. That’s right Cinniapolitans, that is a four-figure utility bill. It takes me over two years to spend that much on electricity. Yet, the people are the problem, but not the one household that uses more electricity than an entire apartment building. This hypocrite is no longer fit for office. Vote him out the next chance you have or he will become the first entry into the Private Citizens trophy room.”

While these snippets portray Mayor Gondola in a hypocritical light, there is no indication the Mayor would not adjust his habits to abide by his own administration’s policies were they to be implemented in the future. We reached out to the Mayor’s office for a comment but were not able to reach him or his aides. He must still be off-duty on that long weekend.
