Mayor Gondola’s Electric Snow Plow Fleet Gets First Test Next Week

During Mayor Gondola’s August State of the City speech, he alluded to gas powered automobiles as a detriment to the environment and promised to usher in an era of clean energy electric automobiles. While he didn’t specifically mention them by name, his administration has been eager to roll out their new electric snow plow trucks as proof that automobiles of the future will be powered by electricity and be just as, if not more, efficient than gasoline powered automobiles.

With an approaching snowstorm expected to drop several inches over Cinniapolis next week, this new fleet of electric trucks will be on display. Mayor Gondola’s administration have said the electric powered snow plows were engineered to perform heavier work over longer periods of time when compared to a gasoline snow plow. They claim the snow plows have been through hundreds of hours of testing to prove their capabilities. “The public will get their first chance to see what we’ve known for some time now, electric snow plows are more efficient and environmentally friendly than the old clunky snow plows of yesterday,” said City Manager Justine Wellington. “What we’ve seen from these vehicles is quite impressive. They are fast, precise, and durable,” she said.

The city’s old fleet was last replaced nearly 20 years ago. When the City Council voted to replace the aging truck fleet with electric trucks, most expected this replacement to span several years replacing one gas truck for one electric truck at a time. But, as this administration has shown over the past few years, they have no hesitations about trying to transform Cinniapolis into an environmentally friendly city as fast as possible. Mayor Gondola said at the 2021 International Environment Coalition Conference, “Cinniapolis will the be the model for future cities everywhere. Our emissions will be net-zero without disruption to our citizens daily lives. And, we’re going to do this very quickly.”

Since that speech, the administration commissioned several studies to demonstrate how their proposed policies peppered with heavy-handed regulations will improve the environment, resulting in less frequent and weaker severe weather systems. Our first real example will be the effectiveness of these electric snow plows. By now, we all know the environmental benefits of an electric powered vehicle versus a gasoline powered vehicle. However, gasoline snow plows have been cleaning our streets for decades. If these electric snow plows aren’t able to match the efficiency of the old fleet, we may never see Mayor Gondola in public again.
