St. Boris Church will be holding its fourth annual Autumn Auction to help raise funds for the parish and elementary school. Last year, the proceeds from the auction were used to purchase new toilets for the school and church. Money well-spent if nature calls one while in the Lord’s house. There were a wide range of items and experiences to bid on last year, including refurbished laptops and rare sets of sneakers.
This year, St. Boris Church spokesperson Karen Jefferson, promised this auction will be the largest assortment yet. “There are some really exquisite items this fall. Just truly precious, one-of-a-kind merchandise that can be had for the right amount,” she said. Ms. Jefferson showed us a crocodile skin belt, an authentic Rosies jersey, and even hinted there will be automobiles up for auction this year. When questioned, she maintained all items up for auction are donations from the public. In the past, it’s been alleged the HSL illegally confiscates items from suspected criminals and then donates them for auction while accepting a percentage of the proceeds. The CCIT has yet to find evidence of these allegations.
Father Ned Appleton, the de facto head auctioneer, praised those that donated their belongings for the benefit of St. Boris. “We are always very grateful to those that not only bid on the items but to those that donate. It demonstrates great humility to participate in these types of events designed to assist our children and parishoners in their life journeys,” he said. Father Ned also had this disclaimer, “To all bidders, we are cashless this year. Please, please have a credit card or mobile payment option ready.”
The Autumn Auction will be held at two sites on the St. Boris grounds. There will be bidding tables set up on the football field and also items up for auction displayed in the school gymnasium. So, head on over to St. Boris this weekend for two days to celebrate family, friends, and community. The bidding hours will be from 10:00 am through 8:00 pm Saturday and 10:00 am through 5:00 pm Sunday. There will be live music performances from the St. Boris Church band. There will also be Beaned Café food stands set up on campus. Bring your family, friends, and even your appetite out to St. Boris this weekend for a noble cause. Hope to see you there.
